North East Brazilian Drumming Workshop

Jan 1 1970 - 01:00

come and learn some North Eastern Brazilian rhythms with Holly Prest, band leader of Juba do Leao. the flavour of North East Brazilian drumming is deeply rooted in its African origins. Rhythms like Maracatu, Samba Reggae and Ijexa have developed from Nigerian drumming used for religious candomble ceremonies. Although candomble is still practiced, the rhythms have found their way out onto the streets and are played before and during carnival. The workshop is open to anyone who wants to join in - you don't need to have drummed before, but you might be an experienced drummer. Holly will work with people are whatever level they are at.
