Cultural Awareness DaysDerby Open Centre has extended its services to offer Cultural Awareness Days suitable for adults working in public and private sector organisations. Each day offers visits to various places of worship, all within a five minute walk of the Centre, followed by an Indian cookery workshop, lunch and an afternoon Open Forum led by Centre staff and trustees. Timetable for the day 9:30am Arrive at Centre, registration, refreshments. The Centre can tailor these arrangements to meet the needs of specific groups – so please let us know if you would like anything different. The morning session provides a background for the Open Forum in the afternoon when we can address many of the questions associated with ethnic, community and religious issues. The Open Centre is not a faith-based organisation and is primarily concerned with promoting understanding between the different communities that make up Derby. Stereotyping and prejudice are a direct result of ignorance and the best way to overcome them is by personal experience and by feeling free to raise issues and ask questions as part of an open-ended discussion. We charge £240 for the day which is suitable for groups of between 12 and 25 people. (or £20 per person) www.DerbyOpenCentre.org/days.htm Individuals or smaller groups can join some days we have already booked: April 20th, July 22nd, September 7th and November 18th. Contact The Open Centre for details.
